Madison Avenue

Madison reflected (I didn't even see the sun near the top when I was taking the photo!)

HOW much more interesting would this photo be if the paper underneath were any color but white? oh well, the cookies still look good :)

Montreal, Canada

Inside one of the two famous and incredible bagel places. I hate to say it, New York, but Montreal has you beat.

Weekly drum circle (only in summer)

at the outdoor market...

where we eventually had a rustic but remarkably yummy lunch of bread and cheese.

Northern Italy and Lago di Garda

Roman ruins at Sirmione

I have a weak spot for steeples.

the mountains we climbed..

happy Alpine cows along the trail!

the lake before noon.

Bordeaux and environs, France

The beautiful vineyards of St. Emilion, a principal red wine region of Bordeaux.

the village of St. Emilion

Irresistibly cute children in a central Bordeaux square.

Was charmed by the linearity of the tracks, the light streaming through the trees, and the sense of possibility evoked.

Villandry and Versailles, France

Bicycled with friends to Villandry from Tours (the sore butts were worth the dazzling views)

Almost didn't make it to Versailles after we missed the train stop

Paris

Couldn't help but snap a photo as I rushed through the seedy 18th arrondissement.
Tour de France finishing at the Champs-Elysees
outside a Left Bank bistro
the Luxembourg Gardens
Entrance to the Moulin de la Galette, where in the 19th century people would gather for entertainment, wine, and the brown bread produced on site; made famous by Renoir's painting, "Bal de moulin de la galette"

Loire Valley, France

Every evening I would take a walk in the garden near my host family's house in Tours, and I frequently spotted two beautiful swans, one of which is pictured here.
in my host mother's kitchen
Village of Amboise (?) - looking like a row of gingerbread houses, even in summer.

View of the Loire from the Chateau de Chononceau (?); would run along the opposite bank.

Hong Kong

much cleaner, faster, and slicker than subways in the US!
Taken while hiking the Dragon's Back, so named because of its many hills and valleys. This is our trail snaking down a pass. My brother and I were rationing our water by this point, perhaps more for drama than necessity's sake.

San Leonardo and Manila, the Philippines

a peanut vender

a "jeepney" (the most popular form of public transportation in the Philippines, made from U.S. military jeeps left over from WWII)

kids on their way to school

Peterhof, Russia

Somewhere in the Yucatan, Mexico

Flamingos. I think the pontoon driver mentioned they're pink because they eat salmon? Was too busy taking in the breeze...
Isla Mujeres (?)
